First, they are supposed to cry out, just to signal to parents and assorted onlookers that they are in fact alive and did not enter the world having already left it. Then they are supposed to grow up, mentally, physically and emotionally. Throughout this growing, a person is also expected to get educated, at least to a secondary if not an undergraduate level. After receiving that education, the expectation is that they are going to find gainful employment of some sort. During the course of that education and that employment, they are also supposed to find a romantic partner, preferably someone of the opposite gender although attitudes towards that are changing. With that romantic partner, society then expects them to procreate, purchase a home, and then grow old before eventually dying. The need for such an organization presented itself in the past. It used to be that to go a school, even a public school, a student has to pass an IQ test. But not everyone could do that. So those students were given their walking papers. But those kids did not come into the world by magic. No, they came into being because of their parents.
Now, the organization got its start because of those parents. They gathered their resources, and then they put those resources to use. They acquired space, equipment, and then teachers, all of which would be used in order to get their kids to learn.
Its mission is simple. That mission is to help. Because society is going to treat those who are a little mentally slower as a nuisance to be patronized at best and freaks to be scorned at worst. Now, the treatment will generally fall somewhere in the middle. But that treatment is still not entirely ideal, because they are still being treated as abnormal.
This purpose can be achieved through the use of learning programs. Now, kids with special needs will absorb and retain information differently, so the methods to give them that information will be a little different in order to account to those occasions.
An expansion on that learning program is the summer camp. Now, summer camps for a few weeks in a year in which children will live away from home in order to learn under the guidance of counselors and such. Now, special children are not going to be able to attend a regular camp because of their conditions, which is why one suited to those conditions had to be established.
Speaking of special things, there is a scholarship. The kids who have to go the RCA are not going to be able to get the normal scholarships. Which is why one had to be made for them.
Being alive is not fair. But it can be a lot harder for some than others. But there are helping hands out there ready to help those individuals up on to their feet.
