Children are all eager to move around rather than sit still. Classes in which they can be physically active are fun for them. They learn motor skills and how to function socially at the youngest age. A parent may take a class along with the child under three years of age. Turnersville NJ Childrens Gymnastics offers classes for children of all ages.

In the preschool age classes the parents are encouraged to watch from the sidelines. The instructor is in charge, providing structured lessons. These children have not only basic gymnastics instructions, but learn to follow directions and wait for their turn at performing a tumbling skill.

Classes focus on skills that are age-appropriate and promote success as new skills are learned. Children move on to higher level classes as their abilities improve. They are encouraged to progress. The things taught to the older children are partially based on gender.

Girls receive instructions on the four events women compete in. There is the balance beam, the vault, the uneven parallel bars and floor exercise. Flexibility and strength are basic skills needed for the girls at this level.

For the boys who want to be prepared to compete, there are six separate events. They do tumbling runs during floor exercise. Great control and upper body strength is needed on the still rings and parallel bars.

Goals are set during the first lesson of each course. The children work to reach these goals before moving on to the next class. The little children do cartwheels and somersaults. The older ones interested in competition will set a goal for each event.

There are fun-filled classes in trampoline. Jumping, twisting and doing front and back somersaults in the air are all exciting activities. There is always an emphasis placed on safety during trampoline classes. On the floor mats tumbling tricks such as back handsprings prepare the girls to try out for cheerleading. These physical activities promote good health in children of all ages.
