The Importance Of The Condensation Sensor

By Stephanie Perry

There are so many improvements in technology for modern use. The benefits this provides helps different types of industries by giving them additional options to incorporate in their products for both home appliances and vehicles. A good example is a condensation sensor. This device has been used in different clothes dryers to allow it to stop heating the load when it detects that there is little to no moisture in them. This prevents the material from overheating and allows the homeowner to stop guessing how long to run the load. This type of device is now used in vehicles to help with driving.

A humidity monitor can be found in newer vehicles that help keep the windows from fogging up. This allows the driver to stop having to squint or constantly clean the inside of the glass while driving. Many accidents have happened because the driver couldn't see as they were heading to work. The system automatically detects the moisture before the window fogs up and adjusts the systems air to prevent it from doing so.

The rain-sensor adjusts the windshield wipers in inclement weather. On cloudy days, the need to have intermittent wipers is obvious. Little raindrops are annoying but so is having the wipers running full blast. Most cars today have the timer included so you can put the wipers on delay. The auto-sensor will be able to see or measure how much water is building up on the glass and run the wipers as needed so the driver isn't having to constantly adjust the wiper to the conditions. When sitting at a stop light the rain may not build up, but when the driver takes off it will and the sensor will detect that and adjust.

Turning it on is very simple. The wiper knob should be set to A or auto so the car settings will be able to do its job. In the dashboard menu, find the wiper settings and set the rain sensor to the on position. This will allow it to perform its job. If you put the lights on auto as well, the device will turn them on when it detects conditions that should have them on for safety.

Turning the devices off puts the car back in the traditional mode. There are times when you may not want the car to run the wipers or keep the lights on in bad weather. Sitting in a parking space while waiting for someone is an example. In this case, you can either go through the menu on the dash and turn it off or simply turn both the wiper and light settings to off manually. When you're ready to go again, simply turn them back to auto and the vehicle will begin detecting the weather again.

Replacing the glass requires a technician. If you are not familiar with the device, the technician will be able to detach them and put them back on the glass or in the vehicle as needed after the replacement is done. Some glass has them permanently attached, much like the heat strips for the back window.

If the part stops working it needs to be replaced. You need to either hire a mechanic or make sure the device you are putting on is the exact one for your vehicle. If they are installed improperly they will not work.

Having these types of devices in the car can be lifesavers. The ability to keep the window clean and clear is critical to driving in bad weather. If your car doesn't come with them, you might consider having them installed aftermarket.
